We can understand Flamenco as a flower, flor in Spanish.

Its ROOTS are the diverse artistic and cultural influences that graced Andalusian SOIL over many centuries, including the influences of Iberians, Phoenicians, Greeks, Romans, Sephardic Jews, Visigoths, Moors, Roma, Latin-Americans, and West-Africans.

It grew out of an ENVIRONMENT of oppression and solidarity among marginalized groups in the region.

It BLOOMED thanks to the work of flamenco’s artists to create and develop flamenco styles as an expression of these influences and experiences, leading to over 50 styles within 5 stylistic groups: Soleá, Seguiriya, Tango, Fandango, and Folkloric.

Today’s flamenco artists and contemporary developments are the SEEDS that both honor tradition and flex its boundaries.

Through diversified offerings, FLOR strives to highlight these origins, expressions and developments for a thorough understanding of flamenco.
